TUDC 2023 Spring Student + CULTIVATE Showcase, May 19-21

Join us for TU Dance’s annual Spring Showcase featuring students from The School at TU Dance Center and dancers from CULTIVATE, A Trainee Program. The program will include CULTIVATE trainees’ self-choreographed solos as well as a work entitled Quiet Home by guest choreographer Gregory Dolbashian. Students from the Children & Teen and Pre-Professional Programs will share technique demonstrations in modern, ballet, hip hop and African dance as well as perform in works by TU Dance Center teaching artists, DRIVE: Let it Burn… a piece choreographed in Fall 2022 by Alanna Morris and Sa’Nah Britt, and a new work by guest artist Stephon Williams. Please join us in celebrating these inspiring dancers and their dedication!

The 3-Women Project Showing, May 3

Please join us for an informal in-studio showing featuring The 3-Women Project, a TU Dance project with choreography by Stefanie Batten Bland, Alanna Morris and Yusha-Marie Sorzano. In anticipation for our live performances at The O’Shaughnessy at St. Catherine University on May 12th & 13th at 7:30pm, we invite you to attend this event and get an up-close and personal look into the creation of these works, and have the opportunity to meet many of the artists involved.

Find us on the north side of University Avenue, one block east of Vandalia, located directly behind Subway on the building’s east side. Limited parking is available in the lot in front of TU Dance Center.  Additional parking is available in the north side lot accessible by taking Vandalia St. and Charles Ave.

Community Class with Yusha-Marie Sorzano, April 29

Yusha studio

Join visiting guest artist and choreographer Yusha-Marie Sorzano for a community class for intermediate and advanced level. This class is designed for students to deepen their understanding of ballet and modern technique in conversation. It aims to support and strengthen the individual through qualitative articulation in fixed and moving technical positions. Developing a sense of line through body, focus on detail, and breath meet here to inspire musicality, phrasing, and interpretation.

Community Class with Stephon Williams, April 24

Join us for a community class for intermediate/advanced dancers with Stephon Williams. A collaborative, and creative environment to workshop and develop choreographic performance work.

Stephon Williams is a New York City-based dancer/choreographer born and raised in the Bronx New York. He earned his degree in dance with a concentration in performance and choreography from SUNY Potsdam. Stephon has been trained in a wide variety of dance styles with a strong emphasis in Hip-hop, contemporary, ballet, and modern. He has performed in numerous dance competitions, live performances and television shows around the country, including the American Dance Festival, Paramore at MSG and 21 Pilots on the Seth Myers show. Stephon has choreographed work for artist ALUS. He has trained with choreographers such as Theresa Stone, Hamilton Evans, Rhapsody James and Gregory Dolbashian. Stephon is currently a free lance dancer with The Dash Ensemble founded by Gregory Dolbashian. Stephon is excited to debut his new work in collaboration with the TU dancers.
