FOR THIS SUMMER WE HAVE DESIGNED A HYBRID SCHEDULE THAT INCORPORATES IN-PERSON AND VIRTUAL CLASSES, WITH THE ABILITY TO PIVOT TO A FULLY VIRTUAL SCHEDULE IF NEEDED. SAFETY PROTOCOLS WILL BE PUT IN PLACE AT TU DANCE CENTER INCLUDING DAILY TEMPERATURE CHECKS AND HEALTH ASSESSMENTS, MANDATORY USE OF MASKS FOR ALL, HAND WASHING/SANITIZING BEFORE AND AFTER CLASS, SMALLER CLASS SIZES, SOCIAL DISTANCING, SPACE BETWEEN EACH CLASS FOR CLEANING AND DISINFECTING, NAVIGATION PLAN THROUGHOUT TUDC AND MORE. WE ARE EAGER AND EXCITED TO GET BACK INTO THE STUDIO AND YET WE ALSO BALANCE THIS EXCITEMENT WITH GREAT CARE AND CONCERN FOR THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF EACH MEMBER OF OUR COMMUNITY. TOGETHER WE WILL GET THROUGH THIS!

The TU Dance Center Children & Teen Program introduces the joy of creative movement and beginning dance technique. Classes, divided by age, provide a comprehensive base on which to expand by developing body awareness, coordination, balance, flexibility, strength and musicality. OUTDOOR DANCING TOGETHER: JULY 20-AUGUST 24

A child and parent/caregiver creative movement class. This workshop is designed for children (ages 2-4) and their parent/caregiver who are interested in a shared movement experience that engages the senses of curiosity and play. Both child and caregiver will participate in developmentally appropriate movement exercises that incorporate elements such as effort, shape, and tempo. Music will play an essential role in the class as students will be asked to respond to sounds as well as make sounds themselves. Participants will be encouraged to join at their own comfort level with the understanding that observation is often the best form of learning with younger children. This class will give children and caregivers the opportunity to learn more about themselves and one another through the art form of dance.

BRIDGE LEVEL: JULY 12-24

This two-week program is aimed for students (ages 9-13) preparing for a deeper engagement in dance. In this level, students receive introductory technique classes with focus on the creative process. Students will learn various styles and concepts of dance. Technique classes will be aided by live music. Students will participate in the creation of movement in daily workshop classes.

This program is an entry level for students typically aged 14 – 19 that will focus on the techniques of modern, Hip-Hop, and African Dance as well as workshop/choreography. During this 3-week program, students will learn the basic fundamentals of dance technique along with exploring their individual artistic expression.

2021 Summer Intensive | Pre-Professional Program

The TU Dance Pre-Professional program is an intensive course of study integrating modern, ballet, African, and creative workshops for students ages 11 to 24. Placement can be done by attending an in-person or virtual open class at TU Dance Center (by appointment only), by submitting a video link (modern and ballet phrase), or during the first day of classes of the intensive.

OPEN CLASSES

TU Dance welcomes beginning, intermediate and advanced dancers to join TU Dance Open & Company Classes. Open classes are $15/class, or $130 for a 10-class card; pre-registration is required due to studio capacity restrictions (COVID related). Online payments are only accepted; 10-class cards may be purchased online here with a credit card. A confirmation e-mail will follow your successful online class card purchase. Please print your confirmation e-mail/receipt and bring it to your first class to pick up your 10-class card.
